Man Utd coach suggests Premier League referees train with teams
Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick has suggested that referees train with the Premier League’s 20 teams to improve relations between clubs and the officials.
The German came up with the proposal at a recent conference with Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL) chief Mike Riley.
The standard of officiating in England’s topflight has continued to come in for heavy criticism from coaches, players, and fans this campaign.
According to the Daily Mail, Rangnick theory’s is that allowing match officials to be in close quarters with players on a more regular basis would let both sides get to know each other better.
The other coaches in attendance reportedly supported Rangnick and PGMOL is now considering his idea.
Match officials hold training sessions together away from clubs several times a week before they are assigned fixtures to take charge of.
