Sipho Mbule missing in action
Sipho Mbule was a notable absentee at SuperSport United’s training on Wednesday morning, with indications he could be facing disciplinary action at the club.
Mbule is desperate to leave SuperSport, with several local clubs keen on signing him.
Two sources close to the player confirmed he has not been training for almost a week, also revealing he was frustrated.
SuperSport coach Kaitano Tembo was coy when asked about the whereabouts of the 24-year-old.
“For Sipho, I’m not going to comment now; I think I’ll leave that to the management,” Tembo said.
Mbule’s first appearance of the year for his club was in the 2-0 win over AmaZulu early last month [5 March 2022]. It was a five-minute appearance.
His current deal with SuperSport expires in June, but the Tshwane side has an option to renew. The two parties have until the end of May to exercise that option.
Efforts to get a comment from SuperSport CEO Stan Matthews and his agent Mike Makaab were fruitless as their phones rang unanswered.
He has played 100 matches in the PSL and scored 11 goals and 10 assists from midfield for SuperSport.
