Bafana learn 2023 Afcon draw fate

Bafana Bafana have learned their fate in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) Qualifiers set to start in June 2022.

The draw was held at SuperSport Studios in Johannesburg on Tuesday night. Caf Director of Competitions Samson Adamu conducted the draw with the assistance of former Bafana Bafana skipper Lucas Radebe and former Ivorian frontman Salomon Kalou.

South Africa will face Liberia, Zimbabwe and Morocco in Group K of the Afcon Qualifiers.

Zimbabwe, banned by Fifa from all football activities globally in February, is also included. However, if the suspension is not lifted two weeks before their first matchday of the qualifiers, the Warriors will be considered losers and eliminated from the competition, with the group cut to three teams of which the first and runner-up teams qualify for the final tournament.

The tournament will take place in Cote d’Ivoire in 2023.
