Fulham fly back to the Premier League

Fulham secured promotion back to the Premier League on Tuesday night with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Preston North End at Craven Cottage.

The Whites knew that three points would guarantee a top-two finish, and they did not disappoint as Aleksandar Mitrovic scored a brace to take his tally to an impressive 40 goals in 40 league games this season.

Liverpool-bound Fabio Carvalho was also on target as Fulham closed in on clinching the Championship title.

The full-time whistle brought with it jubilant scenes as Fulham fans invaded the pitch.

They gain promotion with four games to spare and lead second-placed Bournemouth by nine points. The Cherries have five games to catch Marco Silva’s men.

It is the fifth consecutive season Fulham have changed divisions as they were also promoted in 2018 and 2020 before being relegated in their first campaign back in the top flight.
