Mmamila enrolls for D coaching License course

Recently appointed Chippa United second assistant coach began his journey to acquire formal coaching qualifications this week.

Mmamila is part of the group of aspiring coaches from the SAFA Nelson Mandela Bay Region in the Eastern Cape. They are attending the Betway Cares Skills Hub SAFA D License course, which started on Wednesday.

The eight-day coaching course, made possible by Betway’s commitment to aiding community sport development through the ongoing Betway Cares Skills Hub programme, saw 30 aspiring coaches assembling at the Northern Areas Football Association in Gqeberha.

The administrator turned coach says he is looking at expanding his coaching knowledge as he prepares for life on the pitch sidelines.

“I think it is important for me to attend this course because it is educational. Life is about learning, and you never know; I might use this in future,” said Mmamila.

“I am now the second assistant coach, and I need to have a professional coaching badge, so I have started with this, and I will not stop until I get my A-License.

The 8-Day workshop aims to provide coaches with the basic necessities and knowledge required of a football coach.

As part of its innovative approach to community sports development, Betway has also invited Sekhukhune United assistant coach Thabo Senong as one of the guest speakers to the course, who is expected to conduct a session with the coaches on Monday, 25 April.
