Pitso’s advice to Sipho Mbule

Sipho Mbule‘s ex-coach at Harmony Academy, Pitso Mokoena, has revealed what he had told the midfielder amid a swell of turbulence in recent weeks.

Mbule is currently suspended by Matsatsantsa following the 24-year-old’s wantaway behaviour towards his teammates and the technical team.

In an interview with FARPost, Mokoena divulged that he had urged the midfielder to focus on his game and play for the Tshwane-based outfit despite speculation surrounding his future, as he will never know what will happen in the future because football is a “funny sport”.

“I think the last time I spoke with Sipho was last week. You know it’s very difficult for him. I tried to advice him until whatever happened because the boy couldn’t wait to push for an exit from SuperSport,” said Mokoena.

“I have said to Sipho, look, you want to move out of SuperSport, but the club have got their reasons to keep you. Stay calm and play for the team – don’t burn bridges. Make sure you leave SuperSport in a good relationship because you will never know what will happen in the future. Honour your contract, do your best until your contract is finished, then you move out.”

Meanwhile, Mokoena also revealed that former SuperSport coach Kaitano Tembo called him one day to ask him to talk with Sipho as the drama surrounding him began to unfold.

“Kaitano asked me to speak with Sipho as I understand the team. He explained that we have released Teboho [Mokoena], and we have also released Grant [Kekana] to Sundowns. Therefore we can’t let go of all the senior players. We still need other senior players to bring along with other junior players for experience purposes. Before Dean Furman left the club, they introduced Tebogo alongside him, and it worked for them, and they wanted to do the same thing with Sipho and the young ones who are there,” he added.

“So, I understand the response from SuperSport. It was only fair for Sipho to wait for the season to end, then take it from there.”

Mbule’s contract expires at the end of the current season, and the midfielder’s future remains uncertain with interest from several local clubs.
