Radebe hoping high-intensity game plan can pave way to solid finish
Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Sabelo Radebe believes non-stop running, collective intensity in the press and transitions could earn them the much-needed victory when they face Mamelodi Sundowns in a DStv Premiership encounter at the FNB Stadium on Sunday [17h30].
Radebe is well aware that while their opponents have already been crowned league champions, it will be a game with plenty of “pride and dignity” at stake. “It’s not going to be an easy game; that’s one thing we know for sure. I know they have already won the league, but they won’t relax regarding their pride and dignity. But with the preparations of our management, we will be able to face them,” Radebe told the club’s website.
Naturally, Radebe expects a problematic evening at FNB on Sunday against a top-quality side who are champions for a good reason but has stressed that Chiefs have their objectives and motivation going into the game. “It’s going to be a very tough game. We are preparing to play a high-intensity game, to go at them and give them a game. On our side, we have to win our remaining games and see where it puts us,” says Radebe.
Chiefs struggled in their first few games under co-coaches Arthur Zwane and Dillon Sheppard, losing three before they finally notched a win — 1-0 in their DStv Premiership clash against Marumo Gallants at FNB Stadium on Tuesday night. They will be hoping to get another win against Sundowns to better their chances of finishing in the top four.
Fourth-placed Amakhosi have collected 42 points from 27 games, and their crosstown rivals Orlando Pirates are on 40 in fifth place. A win for the Bucs and a loss for Chiefs would see the two exchange places. Of course, the Buccaneers are away this weekend playing the Caf Confederation Cup semi-final against Al Ahly Tripoli of Libya.
