SuperSport United interim coach Andre Arendse has demanded consistency from his charges as the race for a top eight finish heats up.
Matsatsantsa, who are in position eight, are tied on 37 points with Golden Arrows with a game to spare.
While Arrows will take on neighbours AmaZulu in their last match of the season this coming Saturday, the Pretoria side will only play their last match against Orlando Pirates on 1 June.
This is due to the fact that Pirates are set to play the CAF confederations Cup final on Friday, 20 May in Nigeria, forcing the Premier soccer League to reschedule their three remaining fixtures.
“Obviously, ourselves and Golden Arrows are the ones who are fighting for that top eight spot so it’s going to go down to the wire,” said Arendse.
“You combine that with the fact that any game is never easy against Pirates so we got to a lot of work in preparation for that game and we got to get it right.
“It will be my job to get it right with the right team out, get the team in the right frame of mind because that is what we are going to need going into that game,” he said.
The 54-year-old has commended the players for the energy they have shown since taking but believes there is room for improvement.
“I am not satisfied with where we sit at the league table. I believe there is always room for improvement, we go on about a great win against Chiefs, three draws in a row after that, conceding no goals and then the last two games we have conceded. So, we have to fix that we can’t be up and down with our performances and with our results.
“Because you have to have consistency in the league, it’s a tough league and that’s the one thing you have to do, consistency in the league table. I am very pleased since I have taken over the team with the energy of the players and that for me has been the standout.”
