It’s a great honour – Klopp on winning EPL and LMA Manager of the Season
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp says “It is a great honour” to be voted the 2021/22 Premier League and League Managers Association’s Manager of the Season.
Klopp won the Sir Alex Ferguson Trophy, which is voted for by the full membership of managers across all the divisions and went on to be named the Premier League manager of the year despite Liverpool failing to win the league, having finished second on the table with 92 points, just one point behind champions Manchester City on Sunday.
The German mentor signed a contract extension running until 2026 last month.
Under the tutelage of Klopp, the Reds managed to win the FA Cup and League Cup this season and they are on the verge to add another title to their trophy cabinet when they lock horns with Real Madrid in the final of the Champions League on Saturday.
“It is a great honour and it was an insane season,” said the 54-year-old manager.
“It was not the best outcome for us, but we are already over it.
“When you win a prize like this you are either a genius or you have the best coaching staff in the world – and I am here with all of my coaching staff, they know how much I appreciate them.”
