Pirates among three PSL clubs courting Miguel Timm
Orlando Pirates are among three clubs chasing out of contract Marumo Gallants midfielder Miguel Timm. The Buccaneers are facing significant competition from both AmaZulu and Sekhukhune in their pursuit of the talented midfielder.
Following Saturday’s final that Gallants lost 2-1 after extra time, coach Dan Malesela confirmed that the midfielder was out of contract next month, adding that the club was doing everything to keep him.
“There are a few players like Miguel whose contract is ending. We’re trying to keep everybody; it will probably be difficult even when some are contracted because it makes coaching easy. It makes progress easy; you don’t have to start afresh trying to solidify the philosophy. But you never know. If we can keep the majority of the players, then we are one step ahead of a lot of things,” Malesela told the media.
Timm has made no secret that there are offers on the table for his services. The 30-year-old has had a solid two seasons for the Limpopo club since joining Maritzburg United in 2020.
“It’s been a good challenge (being at Marumo). I had a lot of negativities from a few people coming here at the beginning. It was important for me to stay focused and trust that I was meant to be here, and this is the perfect time for me to be here, and I think I have made the best out of that opportunity,” he told FARPost recently.
Malesela added that he was keeping his fingers crossed that the club retains the bulk of the squad. “When you coach clubs with limited resources, you must cross your fingers that you don’t lose players.”
