Ronwen Williams doubtful for Morocco clash
Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos confirmed that skipper Ronwen Williams picked up an injury in the DStv Premiership encounter when SuperSport United defeated Orlando Pirates 2-0 on Monday.
But, the 70-year-old mentor is confident that Williams will be fit to face Morocco.
South Africa is scheduled to lock horns with the North Africans on 9 June 2022 at Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat.
“Ronwen has a knock but he will be ready to play against Morocco,” said Broos.
The Belgian football manager also revealed that Lyle Lakay and Innocent Maela suffered knocks but insists that they will be ready before the matchday.
“We also have Lyle Lakay, who got a kick in the Nedbank Cup final. Whereas Innocent Maela is a little bit stiffness on the abductor,” he added.
However, the duo will start training with the squad on Friday afternoon.
Meanwhile, should Williams not be available the coach has faith that Chiefs’ Bvuma or AmaZulu’s Veli Mothwa will be able to do a stellar job against the Atlas Lions.
