Bucs goalkeeper Richard Ofori dropped from Ghana’s Afcon qualifier squad
Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Richard Ofori has been dropped from Ghana squad for the 2023 African Cup of Nations qualifiers, writes Robert Matakanye.
The 28-year-old goalkeeper, who was named in the initial squad for the 2023 African Cup of Nations qualifiers, has been omitted from the trip to Angola.
Asante Kotoko shot-stopper Ibrahim Danlad has been called up to replace him. The Bucs goalkeeper reported to camp in Accra on Thursday but after examination it was picked that he had aggravated a hamstring injury, ruling him out for an undisclosed period.
Ofori played an instrumental role in Orlando Pirates Caf Confederation Cup campaign. Ghana, who lead group E after their 3-0 victory over Madagascar on Wednesday, will play Central African Republic on Sunday, June 5 at Estadio II de Novembro Stadium in Luanda, Angola.
The Black Stars will be looking for a second win to extend their lead at the top of the group. Central African Republic opted for Angola because they do not have a Caf approved stadium to host International matches.
