SAFA presidential hopeful hits back at Aaron Mokoena

Ria Ledwaba has hit back at Aaron Mokoena after the former Bafana Bafana captain questioned her credentials ahead of the Safa presidential election later this month.

The two have experienced a fractured relationship as the SAFA presidential manifesto campaigns continue across the country, with Ledwaba often subjected to public attacks.

The SAFA vice president alleges that the former Blackburn Rovers defender goes to all the provinces to say “what has Mama Ria done for football” in our beloved country in support of the incumbent SAFA president Dr Danny Jordaan.

Ledwaba, who laughed off ‘Mbazo’s criticism said she was baffled by the obsession many people have against her and how they see her as a threat to her fellow candidates.

“I understand that everyone has got their own opinions, but I need to invite Aaron to come to my office and come to see the 23 awards that I have received ever since 2013 for serving football. He must come and show me one award for the person he’s talking about,” said Ledwaba.

“I want him to come and show me if he says Ria Ledwaba has not done anything in football, he must tell us what Dr Danny Jordaan has done in football except when he was an employee of SAFA ( SAFA CEO during the World Cup) and not alone but with the organising committee at the time.

“When you are an employee, I’m talking about using your own money, serving South African footballers, paying players’ accommodation and making sure they are well-taken care of.”

Meanwhile, Ledwaba reckons that she will prove those who are against her wrong as she’s confident that she will have enough votes to walk away victorious as she aims to make a change within the hierarchy of South African football.
