Paris Saint-Germain have overtaken AC Milan in the race for the signature of a Portuguese star.
LOSC Lille midfielder Renato Sanches has been linked with several clubs in recent weeks with Milan seemingly the favourites to sign the European Championship winner.
Sanches’ move to the Serie A champions was almost a done deal until the French champions stepped up their pursuit of the 24-year-old earlier this week.
There are a few factors which have tilted the odds in favour of the Parisian club, including the arrival of former Lille coach Christophe Galtier whom the former SL Benfica midfielder won the Ligue 1 title with in the 2020/21 campaign.
The other twist is that Luis Campos, the new director of PSG, knows the anchor well – he brought him to Lille in 2019 which turned out to be a good move for the former Bayern Munich star.
Should they continue their push for the player, Milan must make a better offer if they are to seal a deal in the coming days.
