Stellenbosch release seven players
Stellenbosch FC have confirmed the departure of seven players ahead of the new campaign.
The seven are veteran midfielder Granwald Scott, Zambian international Nathan Sinkala, winger Stanley Dimgba, defender Sibusiso Mthethwa, striker Waseem Isaacs, left-back Marc van Heerden and centre-back Robyn Johannes.
Stellies confirmed that Scott’s contract will not be renewed for the 2022/23 season.
The Cape club thanked the 34-year-old midfielder for his “incredible service both on and off the pitch.”
The side also bid farewell to Sinkala who was one of the key players for Steve Barker. The 31-year-old footballer made 18 appearances across all competitions for Stellenbosch the last term and brought a wealth of experience to help the team finish fourth in the DStv Premiership log standings.
Also leaving, Dimgba, 29, burst onto the scene becoming the club’s top goalscorer in his debut season (2020/21), having joined them from the Nigerian side, Enyimba Aba.
The Winelands-based outfit also parted ways with centre-back ‘Sbu’ Mthethwa. The former Cape Umoya United, Platinum Stars, AmaTuks, and Free State Stars player managed to play 10 league games in stellenbosch colours last season.
In addition, Isaacs, Van Heerden and Johannes saw their contracts not renewed.
