Mammila resigns, Lentjie to follow?
FARPost has it on good authority that Chippa Mpengesi is wielding the axe at Chippa United with major changes set to be announced soon.
The Chilli Boys returned for pre-season on 18 June ahead of the 2022/23 PSL season.
This publication has been reliably informed that head coach Kurt Lentjies has been instructed to stop taking charge of training sessions.
The 37-year-old, who helped the club survive relegation last season, was informed of the decision on Friday.
This publication has also gathered that Lentjies’ assistant and club administrator Morgan Mmamila tendered his resignation earlier this week.
It is unclear what has prompted Mmamila’s exit from the club. He was in his third stint with the club in different capacities. Last season, he sat on the bench as an assistant after the departure of Gavin Hunt when Lentjies was asked to step in.
Lentjies, who took over in the middle of the season from Hunt, guided the club to safety in his first season as a coach. Efforts to reach Chippa chairman, Mpengesi, to get a comment were fruitless as his phone rang unanswered.
