Ahly provides Percy Tau injury update

South African forward Percy Tau looks set to return to action soon at Al Ahly in Egypt, as his recovery from injury is well on track.

The Egyptian giants have announced that Tau hit the next phase of recovery training sessions on Thursday at El Tetsh Stadium in Cairo alongside Mozambican Luis Miquissone and Yasser Ibrahim.

“The trio started running around the pitch on the sidelines of the team’s training sessions as they entered a new phase of their recovery programs,” the club’s official website says.

“Ibrahim and Tau are currently recovering from the injuries which they picked up in the quadriceps muscle, while Miquissone has recovered from the injury in the inner ligament of his knee.”

Reports have linked Tau with an exit at Al Ahly following the resignation of his former coach Pitso Mosimane who signed him from Brighton and Hove Albion in England.

The pair also worked together at Mamelodi Sundowns in South Africa.

Miquissone is reportedly on the radar of his former club Simba in Tanzania, and Kaizer Chiefs in South Africa.

Meanwhile, the trio will miss Al Ahly’s next Egyptian Premier League game against Future FC on Tuesday at 9:00 PM.

Al Ahly are in third place on the log table with three games in hand while lying six points behind leaders Zamalek.
