Marumo set to lose one of their key players

With only a few weeks before the much-anticipated 2022/23 Premier Soccer League season begins, Nedbank Cup finalists Marumo Gallants are set to lose one of their key players.

Gallants recently acquired the services of a new coach in Frenchman Romain Folz. But the club is struggling to convince some of its important players to stay at the club.

Midfielder Miguel Timm has already left for Orlando Pirates while the future remains uncertain with Thabo Mnyamane. Siphelele Ntshangase has also been released by the club after struggling for game time under coach Dan Malesela last season.

FARPost has it on good authority that Goalkeeper King Ndlovu will be the latest player to leave the Limpopo-based club.

This publication has gathered that Ndlovu has been made an offer he couldn’t resist by KwaZulu natal-based side Maritzburg United. The 29-year-old has already said his goodbyes to his old teammates and is believed to have arrived in Maritzburg on Monday.

“He (King Ndlovu) is here. He arrived yesterday. The deal is as good as done so certainly he is going to be a Maritzburg United player,” a source told FARPost.

Ndlovu’s contract at Marumo expired at the end of June. Although there was an option to exercise from the side of the player, the former Black Leopards shot-stopper opted not to exercise the option.

This will leave Gallants with Washington Arubi as the only experienced goalkeeper, a situation which is not ideal for coach Folz.

Ndlovu will undergo a medical test on Wednesday before the official announcement by the club before the end of the week.

Once confirmed, he will join the likes of Bongani Sam (loan from Orlando Pirates), Bonginkosi Makume (from Baroka) and Given Mashikinya (from Royal AM) who have also joined the club.
