BREAKING NEWS: Sekhukhune beat Chiefs to Bafana international’s signature
Sekhukhune United have beaten Kaizer Chiefs to land the signature of Victor Letsoalo.
Babina Noko signed the Bafana Bafana international on a three-year contract with an option of a year.
For the longest time, the talented forward was linked with Kaizer Chiefs, but the R20 million price tag scared away the Soweto giants.
According to a Royal AM source, they were afraid to lose him for nothing in January. His contract with the Durban side would have expired in June 2023, meaning in January he would have signed a pre-contract.
“We would have lost him for nothing in January and he was eager to move and Sekhukhune were keen on him. It’s a win-win for everyone,” a Royal AM source told FARPost.
Letsoalo was one of the standout stars in the domestic league last season, attracting the interest of top clubs. In fact, there was an enquiry from a Saudi Arabia club. He scored 14 goals in the DStv Premiership, a run only bettered by Mamelodi Sundowns’ Peter Shalulile.
All along, the former Baroka Bloemfontein Celtic star had maintained he was happy at Royal AM and remains focused on their targets for the season.
“I have a contract with Royal AM, and I’m committed to doing the team. The focus is on finishing our season strong,” he told FARPost recently.
Meanwhile, Babina Noko also completed the signing of Siphosakhe Ntiya-Ntiya on a two-year deal with a one-year option. The former Kaizer Chiefs left-back was recently offloaded by the Soweto giants.
The Limpopo side has signed several top players during this transfer window. Orlando Pirates duo of Linda Mntambo and Tshegofatso Mabasa joined them recently alongside former Kaizer Chiefs defender Daniel Cardoso.
Thamsanqa Masiya, Lesego “Mish” Sebetlela, Trésor Tshibwabwa Yamba Yamba, Wonderboy Makhubu and Badra Ali Sangaré also join the Kaitano Tembo-coached side.
