What Malawi FA boss said about John Maduka
Football Association of Malawi (FAM) president Walter Nyamilandu has said he is proud of the exploits of Maritzburg United’s new coach John Maduka.
Nyamilandu said this after meeting Maduka in Durban on the sidelines of the Cosafa Cup, whose participants include the Flames of Malawi.
The former Malawi defender said he took advantage of Maduka’s visit to reminisce about the duo’s playing days with the Flames.
“Reminiscing the past with John Maduka in Durban. We shared lighter moments of our camp training at Domasi Technical College in 1992 under the late Matthias Mwenda while I was at CHANCO. Proud of what he has achieved over the years as a Coach in South Africa,” Nyamilandu tweeted.
The FAM boss and Maduka played together in the Flames squad in the 1990s before the former evolved into a football administrator while the latter opted to pursue to coaching route.
Maduka’s coaching career has been on the upward trajectory after cutting his teeth with Bloemfontein Celtic who eventually had their Premiership status bought by Royal AM.
Royal AM inherited Celtic playing personnel and coach Maduka who eventually earned the Durban-based side a respectable third-place finish in the last DStv Premiership campaign.
However, the former Celtic skipper has since jumped ship to join Maritzburg.
