Latest on Ricardo Goss to SuperSport
FARPost can confirm that Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper Ricardo Goss has joined SuperSport United at The Ranch Resort in Polokwane, where the Pretoria side is holding its pre-season camp.
He is set to replace Ronwen Williams, who joined Sundowns on a five-year deal. The DStv Premiership champions unveiled the Bafana Bafana goalkeeper on Thursday.
Goss is set to move in the opposite direction with reports from SABC Sport that he will sign a two-year loan deal. Gavin Hunt will be relieved to get the 28-year-old shot-stopper, who has been at Sundowns for the last two seasons after joining them from Bidvest Wits.
The two worked together at The Students. However, Goss has seen little action at the Brazilians under the shadow of the towering Denis Onyango and Kennedy Mweene. He will be hoping to regain his form under Hunt.
The former Real Kings shot-stopper has only managed to make nine appearances in all competitions since joining them in 2020. A move to Sundowns’ neighbours will see him fight for a starting berth with Zimbabwean international Goalkeeper George Chigova as well as Boalefa Pule.
Pule was the preferred goalkeeper by stand-in coach Andre Arendse when Williams was injured last season. He recently vowed to use the pre-season to work on himself and claim the number one spot at Sundowns.
Goss was recently battling a hamstring injury and will be hoping it heals as he looks to, once again, command a regular starting place. He was once tipped to become one of the country’s best goalkeepers, something a move to SuperSport could propel him to.
