Arrows announce new coaches ahead of 2022/23 season
DStv Premiership side Golden Arrows have confirmed major changes in their technical team for the senior and Diski Challenge teams, respectively, ahead of the upcoming 2022/23 season.
Abafana Bes’thende have appointed their former players, the duo of Japhet Zwane and Majdi Mnasria as reserve side coach and first team goalkeeper coach, respectively.
48-year-old Zwane joined the KZN-based side in the 2005/06 season as a free agent from Russian outfit Rostov. His stint at the club was, however, short-lived, lasting only six months before joining his former club, Moroka Swallows for the 2006/07 season.
The former winger’s first assignment at the club will be to restore the team’s lost glory. The 2017/18 DStv Diski Challenge and 2019 Diski Shield champions had a season to forget after finishing 13th last season.
“A man who needs no introduction! Former Abafana Bes’thende midfielder Japhet Zwane has come back home to coach our Diski side,” Golden Arrows posted on their Twitter page.
Mnasria, the Tunisian international returns to the club as a goalkeeper coach following his departure more than a decade ago. The experienced coach has previously worked with Tunisian clubs like Union Sportive Tunisienne, FK ASK, Stade Gabasien and AS Kasserine.
Abafana Bes’thende have a strong force in the goalkeeping department with Nkosingiphile Gumede, Sifiso Mlungwana and Maximilian Mbaeva. The trio will compete for the number one spot between the sticks.
“He is back! Majdi Mnasria returns as our Goalkeeper Coach for the upcoming season. Welcome back, Majdi. Great to have you back in the green and gold,” Golden Arrows Tweeted.
