Buthelezi itching for Bafana call-up

TS Galaxy shot-stopper Melusi Buthelezi has revealed his desire to represent Bafana Bafana if the chance represents itself.

The 25-year-old goalie has been instrumental for the Rockets since making his debut against Kaizer Chiefs in the Nedbank Cup last 32, of which they won 1-0 in the second round of the 2021/22 season. The Nquthu-born footballer went on to pull a stellar performance and kept a clean sheet.

Speaking to TS Galaxy’s media, the talented goal-minder expressed his desire to crack the international level.

“I won’t lie. I would love to represent my country one day. That’s my ambition. I want to play for Bafana,” Buthelezi divulged.

“I’ll continue to work hard. That is very key to fulfilling my Bafana Bafana dream. I have to be consistent for TS Galaxy.”

Four months ago, the goalkeeper suffered a hijacking incident at a petrol filling station in Soweto with his brother. They were coming back from visiting their ailing mother when the incident occurred. As a result, the duo suffered stab wounds and were admitted to the hospital for medical attention.

However, the car was found by his tracking company with dents. But the former Jomo Cosmos man succumbed to a decision not to open a case because in the area where the incident happened, there were no cameras, and it was going to be a mammoth task to gather evidence.

“I think I’m okay. I’m one person who accepts things that have happened and moves on with my life. Mentally and physically, I’m in perfect shape. Sometimes you can be involved in an accident and fail to let it pass,” Buthelezi reflected on the ordeal incident.

The Mpumalanga-based outfit will commence the new campaign against AmaZulu at Mbombela Stadium on the 7th of August, 2022.
