Matsatsantsa confirm more signings from cross-town rivals

SuperSport United have announced the arrivals of midfielder Grant Margeman and striker Thabang Sibanyoni.

Margeman joins Matsatsantsa on a two-year-loan contract, whereas Sibanyoni signed a one-year-loan deal.

The duo forms part of the Tshwane-based outfit from cross-town rivals Mamelodi Sundowns.

Margeman made his Premier Soccer League debut in the 2016/17 campaign for Ajax Cape Town, now known as Cape Town Spurs. He went on to make just under 100 games in his three-year stay at the Urban Warriors.

He later joined Bafana Ba Style Sundowns at the start of the 2020/21 season. The following season the 24-year-old was loaned out to Swallows FC, where he played under 20 games. Now, he will be hoping to get more game time at SuperSport under the tutelage of Gavin Hunt.

“It’s a great privilege to join a team like SuperSport United and I feel honoured to be part of this club. I feel that it’s a step in the right direction in my career right now and I want to do my best. Last season I felt that I had a decent season with Swallows FC, but I am going to work on improving on the stats side, which includes scoring goals and getting more assists and helping the club to win games,” said Margeman on signing his contract.

Sibanyoni played a significant role in guiding AmaTuks to reach PSL Promotional Playoffs, losing 1-0 to Swallows FC on the final day of the playoffs.

The 26-year-old frontman has 10 international caps. He was part of the Bafana Bafana squad that won the 2021 COSAFA Cup in Gqeberha.

“I am happy to join this great club. I have always wanted to prove that I can score goals in the Premier Soccer League, that’s why I am so excited to join SuperSport United. My ambitions are to score more goals and hopefully be in the top 10 goal-scoring-list this season,” Sibanyoni revealed.

Meanwhile, the club CEO Stanley Matthews added: “Grant is an exciting young talent that we look forward to working with this season and hopefully in the future. Thabang is a classic number nine that Gavin likes and feels will fit into our style very nicely. We welcome them both to the club.”
