Kaizer Chiefs coach Arthur Zwane has admitted that their search for a goal poacher has not yielded anything.
FARPost has been reliably informed that the club has offered Burundian forward Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana a three-year deal, and Zwane has spoken out about the 24-year-old forward.
The Glamour Boys are on the lookout for a prolific forward after parting ways with Samir Nurkovic, Bernard Parker, Leonardo Castro, Lazarus Kambole and Lebogang Manyama.
Among the players Chiefs have signed during the current transfer window, Ashley Du Preez from Stellenbosch is the only forward. The Soweto giants have brought in the Swallows trio of George Matlou, Kamohelo Mahlatsi and Dillon Solomons, ex-Sekhukhune captain Yusuf Maart, the Stellenbosch duo of Ashley du Preez and Zitha Kwinika and Siyethemba Sithebe from AmaZulu.
The Burundi international – Bimenyimana – has been on trial with Amakhosi for the last couple of weeks and has scored in friendly matches. Indications are that he could sign before the start of the season.
Here’s what Arthur Zwane told the media about him on Thursday at the launch of the DStv Premiership season.
“Look, he has done well, to be quite honest. We are still undecided as to whether we are going to bring him on or if we are still looking because we are looking for a certain type of striker with the way we want to play and the way we are going to play in future.
“We can’t just have someone who will sit inside the box. Yes, he is very mobile, and he is comfortable on the ball, but we are looking at other qualities as well. If we can get one better than him, then we might go for that. But at the moment, there is no one better than him while we are still looking. I think the league has also given us the opportunity by extending the deadline [for the transfer window], so we will capitalise on that. We will keep hunting until we find one,” Arthur Zwane said.
