Gamphani Lungu wins big at Matsatsantsa Awards Ceremony
SuperSport United have acknowledged their players and technical staff members for their contributions for the 2021/22 season.
Each year, upon the conclusion of the Premier Soccer League (PSL) campaign, Matsatsantsa celebrate the team’s achievements with an Awards Ceremony.
SuperSport United stars who rose to the occasion the last term were presented with the Player of the Season, Players’ Player of Season, DDC Top Goalscorer, Young Player Of Season, Player of the Season (DDC), Coaches Award, Chairman’s Award, CEO’s Award (Thomas Madigage) and DStv Prem Top Goal Scorer & Golden Boot award.
The Tshwane-based outfit completed the 2021/22 campaign in the eighth position with 40 points after 30 outings.
Striker Gamphani Lungu picked up the Players’ Player of the season and DStv Premiership Top Goal Scorer.
He has been one of the club’s few bright sparks this season and has starred as a creative spark, once again showcasing her electric pace, skill and finishing ability.
The side hopes to come back stronger when the new season commences with the aim of challenging for some silverware and finishing in the top eight under the new leadership of Gavin Hunt.
“It’s a different team and club now [Supersport United], things have changed but it’s going to be a good challenge. We need to be more competitive in the league,” Hunt told SNAWA.
“It will take time, it’s a new team and I am not going back to the same team. The team has lost a lot of X Factor players. Sometimes it could get worse before it gets better, we have to be patient.”
