Royal AM CEO Mnisi goes on ‘special leave’

Royal AM CEO Sinky Mnisi has responded to rumours circulating for weeks now about his supposed suspension by the club president Shawn Mkhize.

Addressing the media at OR Tambo Premier Hotel on Wednesday, Mnisi rubbished speculations surrounding his future at the KZN-based club. He, however, revealed that he has decided to take a “special leave” to lay low away from the media.

“For the record, to the members of the media, all the allegations made against me are incorrect, without substance and malicious. I had high expectations that the president of Royal AM refute and distance herself from these allegations,” Mnisi told the media.

“For the public information, I thought it would be good for me to put the truth on the table for everyone to judge for themselves.”

“You want to know whether I’m resigning, no, no! I’ve informed the president, and I’ve sent an email to the club that I will take special leave. I’ve never been suspended. No one has shown a suspension letter. There is no charge sheet.”

“I’m going to relax. I’ve decided to take special leave. I remain CEO of Royal AM Football Club to allow the allegations by the media against me to slow down. There is nothing to hide. I’ve also received my salary. I’ve been paid.”

The former Highlands Park supremo further revealed his disappointment, especially by the media for always putting the blame on him.

“Everything negative is attributed to me. When there’s something positive in the team, it’s everyone else but Sinky Mnisi. I feel offended, and I feel humiliated. Where I am now, I am told that I was sinking the team.”

Mnisi did not reveal the duration of his special leave. He, however, is confident that all the negativity about him will have been settled when he returns.
