Another Sundowns player on the move
Another Mamelodi Sundowns player is on the move, with Chippa United set to announce his signing soon.
The Chilli Boys have added Nigerian forward Etinosa Ighadaro to their squad for the 2022/23 season on loan for one season.
The Eastern Cape side were interested in landing two Masandawa players before the start of the DStv Premiership, and it has now been confirmed that they have secured one.
A source close to the club confirmed to FARPost that Ighadaro’s season-long loan to Gqeberha had been finalised and that he would be a Chippa player this season.
“He has joined Mamelodi Sundowns on loan for this season, and I think he comes in at a time they need to reinforce upfront,” the source said.
The Chippa Mpengesi-owned side lost Bienvenu Eva Nga to Orlando Pirates at the end of last season. After finishing as their top scorer, the Cameroonian joined Pirates on a three-year deal and scored his first goal against Swallows on Saturday at the Orlando Stadium.
According to the source, Chippa’s new forward could debut against Royal AM on Wednesday.
In their season’s opening game, they played a 1-1 draw against SuperSport. Ighadaro was scouted from the Abuja Football Academy in 2019 and was invited for training at Sundowns, where he left a lasting impression with his performances and work rate.
The centre forward was loaned out to the University of Pretoria in the Motsepe Foundation Championship last season, where he scored four goals in 18 games.
Meanwhile, a former Chippa United defender has found a new club to revive his career. Masixolele Nkewana has been considering joining the University of Pretoria in the Motsepe Foundation Championship.
Following his club search after parting ways with Free State Stars at the end of last season, Nkewana has been linked with several PSL clubs, including Marumo Gallants and Richards Bay.
However, it is Amatuks who have now signed the player. The 28-year-old defender made 25 league appearances for Ea Lla Koto last season, scoring two goals.
AmaTuks have already parted ways with several players, including Harold Majadibodu, Keagan Allen, Tlakasani Mbanjwa, Dumisani Msibi and Bulelani Cola.
