JVW bolster squad to challenge for honours

JVW FC has bolstered their squad with two new players as they aim to keep their hopes of winning the Hollywoodbets Super League title alive.

The Blue Diamond confirmed the acquisition of midfielder Lerato Makhanya and 15-year-old defender Sinonhlanhla Nkosi from the club’s development ranks.

The duo will be expected to add value to the first team and help the side to challenge for the Super League title.

JVW are currently placed second on the league table with 32 points, just five points behind log leaders TUT Ladies. The club have won three and lost one in their last four games. As a result, the club still find itself in the title-chasing pack at the top of the table.

“We would like to welcome our two new signings to the JVW First Team amidst the turn of the Hollywoodbets Super League, midfielder Lerato Makhanya and defender Sinonhlanhla Nkosi,” reads the club’s statement.

Last month, JVW parted ways with head coach Mahama Musah Arthur on a mutual agreement to release him, having joined them at the beginning of the campaign.

Arthur took over the coaching reigns from Ciara Picco, who ventured onto a new journey in the United Kingdom after five years with the Blue Diamond.

It goes without a doubt that the departed coach Arthur has impacted the players in a positive manner and had the team kick-start the 2022 Hollywoodbets season with a great deal of enthusiasm and optimism as the side described him during his short spell at the club.
