Truter describes Gabadinho’s strike as probable Goal of Season
AmaZulu coach Brandon Truter has described Gabadinho Mhango’s stupendous strike in the DStv Premiership game against Cape Town City on Saturday evening as probably the Goal of Season contender.
The coach hailed the Malawian after he chipped the ball past the goalkeeper from long range in the 52nd minute to win the game 2-1 for AmaZulu at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.
The former Swallows mentor said he was happy that most of his strikers are finding the back of the net, adding that Gabadinho’s goal was classic.
“The goal that Gabadinho scored is a cracker. It could be the contender for the Goal of the Season already,” he said.
“So, all the [front] three [ including Bongi Ntuli and Augustine Kwam] have scored in two games and that augurs well with us…then you have Lehlohonolo Majoro and Dumisani Zuma they also need to get a run out as well.”
The coach was, however, not overly happy with the fact that his team has had to come from behind in the two consecutive games, including in the 2-1 win over SuperSport United in a midweek game played last week.
Gabadinho and Ntuli scored when Usuthu saw off SuperSport in that home match.
Truter said he needed to ensure that AmaZulu start games on the front foot and make Moses Mabhida Stadium a no-go zone for opponents.
“We want to make it a fortress. No team should come here and think they are collecting points—whether leading or whatever—and that is what we want to create. Right now, the mentality is right. Every point in this league counts but our aim is to collect three,” he added.
AmaZulu have since switched focus to their forthcoming league game against Swallows on the road this Friday.
