As reported by FARPost in the morning, Kaizer Chiefs have signed Burundian international Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana on a two-year deal with a further one-year option.
The 24-year-old joins the Soweto giants as a free agent after parting ways with his previous club Kaysar Kyzylorda in January 2022.
Bimenyimana was in South Africa last month to try his luck at Amakhosi during pre-season camp.
The club stated that the forward went back home to “sort out some of his business.”
The frontman has also represented teams such FK Atlantas Klaipeda, FK Pohronie, Rayon Sports, just to mention a few.
He becomes the second Burundian player to play for the Glamour Boys after Valery Nahayo, who was with the team between 2008 and 2011.
The Chiefs’ new signee has represented his country in different international competitions on 17 occasions and scored four goals.
Amakhosi describes Bimenyimana as a highly experienced player who has played in the CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup with his former club Rayon Sport of Rwanda.
He played an important role in helping Rayon to the quarter-finals of the Confederation Cup back in 2018, having scored three goals in six games.
According to the side, the striker will start playing for Chiefs once he has received all the necessary papers.
Before the start of the season, the club’s sporting director Kaizer Motaung Jr made a plea to the club’s followers as Arthur Zwane officially begins his tenure as head coach.
“We have to be realistic, we understand what happened in the last seven years, we now find ourselves with a coach who deeply understands the football culture of the team, who deeply understands the needs of an African player. We do ask the Khosi nation to have a tremendous amount of patience with this team and they need a tremendous amount of support. Mangethe needs our support, our prayers and of course our patience,” Motaung Jr said in an interview with SAfm a fortnight ago.
“All Chiefs fans want to win the league, want to win cups, we want to dominate and crush our opponents, especially our rivals, our Soweto rivals.”
However, Zwane is calm amid a stormy start to the season after two losses and one win.
