What Dolly told Ngezana after costly mistakes
Kaizer Chiefs winger Keagan Dolly has revealed what he told Siyabonga Ngezana after committing costly mistakes against Mamelodi Sundowns last Saturday.
Ngezana had an afternoon to forget as Chiefs succumbed to an embarrassing 4-0 loss after gifting Gaston Sirino a goal when he tried to play a back pass to goalkeeper Bruce Bvuma.
He later looked to have fouled Peter Shalulile in the 18-area to concede a penalty.
The Namibia international dusted himself to take a penalty as he opened his scoring account for the season.
Dolly, Amakhosi’s captain on the day with Itumeleng Khune sidelined, has thrown his weight behind the Sebokeng-born centre-back and insisted that they win and lose together as a team.
“Directly after the game, us as players, the coaching staff, we assured him [Siyabonga Ngezana] that it’s part of the game and it’s something that he needs to learn from.
“We were just there to help each other. As I said, this season, it’s all about brotherhood.
“We explained to him that we lose together, and we win together. Against Maritzburg, we were all celebrating together, we won 3-0, and against Sundowns, we had to take it [loss].
“It’s part of football. It’s part of our journey. We need to minimise those mistakes and create more chances to score goals,” the former Sundowns star told the media.
Under coach Arthur Zwane, the Glamour Boys have had a slow start to the campaign after losing 1-0 to the tricky Royal AM.
They responded with a convincing 3-0 victory against Maritzburg United before suffering a 4-0 drubbing against the defending champions.
Kaizer Chiefs will be looking to bounce back to winning ways when they face high-flying Richards Bay United.
The Premiership newcomers – Richards Bay – are yet to lose a match in their maiden season in the top flight.
The two teams square off in the DStv Premiership at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday. Kickoff is at 20:00.
