After being frozen out by SkyBet Championship side Queens Park Rangers, Zimbabwean forward Macauley Bonne has made it clear he no longer feels at home at the former Premiership side and is plotting a reunion with Ipswich.
The talented striker has been linked with a move away from SkyBet Championship outfit Queens Park Rangers, and Ipswich has emerged as his target destination.
The 26-year-old has been frozen out of the first team, as he missed their last two matches, and his absence has been conspicuous. They drew 1-1 with Rotherham United in his absence on Saturday.
As a result, Bonne publicly announced his desire to reunite with his hometown club Ipswich as he is struggling to get game time under Micheal Baele, who is at the helm of QPR.
Undoubtedly the Zimbabwean no longer feels at home at QPR as Baele seems satisfied with rookie forward Sinclair Armstrong being preferred ahead of the prospective Warriors forward.
“Some people at QPR might read this and not be happy, but I’d ask them to put themselves in my shoes.
“Who wouldn’t want to play for and be loved by their hometown club?
“I think honesty is the best policy. I just want people to know my story. Ipswich Town is more than a football club to me. I’m not embarrassed to say that,” Bonne said as quoted by Ipswich Star.
The striker is in the final year of his contract with the club, and coach Baele admits Bonne’s move away from them is inevitable, with the transfer window closing on 1 September.
“I think if the right offer comes along for any of our players in this window, they could move. That’s the situation we’re in as a club,” he said.
Last season he managed 12 goals and had an impressive pre-season campaign where he bagged four goals for the Hoops.
Meanwhile, the former Charlton Athletic striker is yet to represent the Warriors of Zimbabwe despite robust efforts to lure him into representing the country.
