Fan promises to buy former Black Leopards coach goat and beer in Kenya

AFC Leopards FC’s fan in Kenya has promised to buy former Black Leopards coach Patrick Aussems a goat and beer for honouring his word to return to the Nairobi-based club.

The supporter Patrick Ngira pledged after Aussems returned to Leopards in Kenya, ending reports that he was jumping ship to join Kiyovu Sports in Rwanda.

“Coach, this season, I will buy you a whole goat and a few cold beers as a show of honour for sticking by us, unearthing talent, and injecting hope in our faithful. My gesture may not be as big, but ask a Kenyan what that means. Welcome back. Karibu Kenya!,” he tweeted.

The Belgian arrived in Nairobi on Thursday morning from Belgian, where he spent his extended holiday that had created speculation that he was on his way out of the Kenyan Premier Soccer League outfit.

“Mr. Patrick Aussems is here…Welcome back, coach,” Leopards tweeted.

Aussems also tweeted before his return to Kenya, and this attracted positive feedback from Leopards fans who feared for his exit.

“Nairobi, I am coming …I can’t wait to be on the field, to work with my players and to see you, #INGWE fans, supporting us!” the coach tweeted.

Earlier, Leopards Secretary General Gilbert Andugu had assured the team’s fans that the coach was coming back.

“I can assure you that Aussems is not going anywhere and remains part and parcel of the team. He is still part of our plans in the upcoming season contrary to reports from various quarters,” Andugu was quoted saying in Kenya media.

He further said the former Simba trainer was scheduled to link up with the team on August 23, but his flight was deferred to August 24 while waiting for the conclusion of the Kenyan General election process.

“We accessed the political temperatures in the country and deemed it fit that Aussems joins us on August 24. In fact, he is the one who is advising the management on the nitty gritty of the team ahead of the tentative kick-off of the national league on August 27,” he said.
