FARPost Cup 2022 update

The success of the inaugural FARPost Cup 2022 has had tongues wagging across South Africa. Its vision and mission of taking football to the less privileged and marginalised have recalibrated the football development agenda in Mzansi.

To understand the impact and extent of the tournament, FARPost caught up with the Tournament Director, Busisiwe Sijora, in Pretoria.

“After starting in the Capricorn region in March, the tournament progressed to the Vhembe region in July,” explained Sijora.

“We have seen over 200 players participating and over 240 coaches going through the FARPost Coaching Seminar.”

“Furthermore, the tournament has allowed over 300 kids to participate in football clinics conducted by renowned coaches and players, including Ramahlwe Mphahlele, Edward ‘Magents’ Motale, Aubrey Modiba, Doctor Khumalo, Joel Masutha and Vincent Kobola,” concluded Sijora.

The tournament is hosted by different regions with the support of FARPost in partnership with SAFA Limpopo, SAFA regions and the Department of Sports, Arts and Culture in Limpopo. Moving forward, the FARPost Cup 2022 will take place in the following regions before the Champ of Champs in December:

  1. Sekhukhune region (24 September 2022)
  2. Mopani region (30 October 2022)
  3. Waterberg region (5 November 2022)
  4. Champ of Champs (17 December 2022)
