Zanaco give Update on Augustine Mulenga’s status

Zanaco has given an update on clubless Chipolopolo midfielder Augustine Mulenga’s status who is currently training with his former Zambian club in Lusaka.

Mulenga is a free agent since leaving South Africa PSL club Amazulu at the end of the 2021/2022 season.

The midfielder has been training with the Lusaka club over for a month now.

Zanaco Chief Executive Officer Modest Hamalabbi said he could not confirm anything at the moment about Mulenga’s presence at Sunset Stadium.

“He might just be training with the team for his physical fitness but as Zanaco we have not committed anything,” Hamalabbi said.

“The window is still open. The FAZ window closes on August 31 and I am sure we will announce any development soon.

“But we are obviously looking at adding to our strike force but we cannot pre-empt anything for now but we are on the market that’s all I can say.

“I am also not a technical man so I am sure the coaches will do an assessment. At Zanaco FC, we have a straightforward policy so we leave it up to the coaches.

“If they think Augustine is up to the spec, then they will bring him to management and we will assess there.

“If he is back and at the top of his form, and they think he is OK, as you know this is his club, we will see but the key here is we wait for the coaches to make any recommendation to management.”

Mulenga played for Zanaco before moving to the PSL where his first stop was Orlando Pirates after the 2018 African Nations Championship in Morocco.
