Poggenpoel wary of struggling Arrows
Chippa United midfielder Brooklyn Poggenpoel is wary of fellow strugglers Golden Arrows when the two sides lock horns this coming weekend.
The Chilli Boys will travel to Princess Magogo Stadium on Saturday, looking for positive results to move away from the relegation zone.
Chippa are one of the five teams to have collected five points in the opening five rounds of the season. They visit an Arrows side that is languishing at second from bottom, but Poggenpoel insists they will not take them lightly.
“It is of utmost importance to get three points this weekend. We are on five points on the table, so three points away from home will be ey good for us,” said the 22-year-old.
“To be honest, we look at the opposition, yes. The coaches give us a plan and what we have to do and try to implement it as best as possible, but we don’t go into any game focusing too much on the opposition. We focus on ourselves and our performances.
“We prepare for each game the same, and the task is to go and work hard for three points. We know Arrows, have been struggling as well, so it’s going to be difficult, especially going to play way in Durban. So, we know it is going to be a tough game, but we are well prepared,” the former Cape Umoya United player said.
Poggenpoel also had a lot of praise for head coach Daine Klate who took over at the beginning of the season.
“Look, it’s not bad. It’s quite fun. We are working hard in training; we are preparing well, and he is a young coach, so its fresh ideas as well
“It’s a good challenge. It’s a good stepping stone in my career. It’s quite fun here at Chippa, the surrounding is good, and I think I am adapting very well. The league is competitive, and I have noticed that the tempo and intensity are quite high, but it’s good.”
