Bafana Bafana star Percy Tau’s move to French Ligue 2 club Le Havre from Al Ahly in Egypt is in limbo with Friday’s transfer deadline looming.

French leading transfer news website Maligue2.fr has suggested that the deal has fallen through after the two parties failed to reach an agreement regarding the South African international.

Maligue2.fr reported on Thursday that Le Harve were interested in signing the former Bafana Bafana star on loan from the Egyptian side with an option to buy him, but could not do so due to the involvement of many intermediaries.

FilGoal website of Egypt has also given an update on the talks, saying there was no headway. The website gave an update on Thursday indicating that Le Harve had reportedly stepped up their negotiations with Al Ahly over the possible signing of the South African.

Percy Tau had received an offer to move to France’s Le Harve, a second-tier club, but FilGoal.com learned that the European club, Al Ahly and the South African player had not reached an agreement, so the deal failed,” FilGoal reported on Friday.

Earlier on Thursday, several media outlets in Egypt including KingFut had reported that representatives of Harve had tabled their bid for the unsettled Bafana Bafana star, hoping to snatch him in the next few hours.

The Al Ahly source further refuted reports that the Cairo-based club transfer-listed the South African forward alongside five other players a few weeks ago, insisting that he remains the club’s reliable senior players despite that he has missed 24 games through injury since moving to Cairo.

Percy Tau has not had the best of his careers at the Cairo-based popular side as he featured in just 31 games for the Reds, scoring eight goals and providing six assists across all competitions largely due to a recurring muscle tear injury.

It is reported that Tau is not accessing the best of medical treatments in Egypt; hence the recurrence of the injuries.

His future became even more uncertain when coach Pitso Mosimane, who signed him on a four-year contract last year from Brighton and Hove Albion in the Premier League in England, resigned from Al Ahly coaching job in June.

The former Mamelodi Sundowns star last featured for Al Ahly on August 10 2022 in a league game against Al-Masry.
