Zwane banking on Chiefs’ new striker for goals
Kaizer Chiefs mentor Arthur Zwane has explained why he believes his new signing, Caleb Bimenyimana will help solve the club’s goal-scoring problem.
Zwane expects his new addition, Bimenyimana to score many goals this season in the DStv Premiership as time goes on. The Burundian international was handed his debut for the club on Saturday in a nil all stalemate against AmaZulu.
He was introduced as a second-half substitute by Zwane, who was desperate for a goal. However, Bimenyimana didn’t have much of an impact as the game had reached its peak when he came in.
But his performance left Arthur Zwane impressed on the sidelines as the 48-year-old tactician believes his new signing will bang in the goals as soon as he settles in the Amakhosi side.
“In the modern game, there is more of a focus on the front three, but we’ll be looking to Caleb to add threat to our attack,” Zwane told the Amakhosi media department.
“He’s got the height, he’s quick so I think he’s going to give us a different dimension. We expect goals from him but with the help of other players. he isn’t going to do it alone.”
The Amakhosi trio of Khama Billiat, Ashley Du Preez and Keagan Dolly leading the team in attack have struggled to be consistent in finding the back of the net.
The attackers have only scored three goals in seven matches this season, including in the MTN8 quarter-finals against Stellenbosch.
It might be early days in the league but with pressure of scoring and getting back to winning ways mounting, Coach Zwane will be looking for his team to start taking their chances in front of goal to move up the DStv Premiership log.
The Soweto giants are in the bottom half in 12th place with seven points, two wins three defeats and a draw after six matches.
On Sunday it will be the battle of strugglers as Amakhosi are on the road to face winless Marumo Gallants. Kickoff at Royal Bafokeng is at 3pm.
