I’ll never listen to fans, vows Highlanders coach Mosala
Mbabane Highlanders’ coach has vowed that fans will never pressure him to make decisions in the dugout.
The club’s fans seemingly called for the substitution of former AmaZulu forward Josef Lekata in Highlanders’ clash against Royal AM on Sunday.
The two sides met in a CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round tie at Somhlolo Stadium in Mbabane.
However, a defiant Mosala said he makes his calls without listening to the whistles of the club’s supporters.
“I don’t listen to the fans; I’m the coach and make decisions. Remember, my head is on the block. In this game, you can get fired.
“I’ll never listen to the fans. I substituted Lekata because he didn’t have legs anymore [not because of the fans].
“You must remember this man was burying his brother yesterday [on Saturday; he drove all the way from Free State the whole night.
“We actually took a chance [playing him]. In my view, we should have played him in the last 20 minutes.
“He was going to give us something. But we thought he’s a big man he will compete…,” Mosala told journalists.
“With the fans, I’m not scared. The fans will never force me to make mistakes by listening to them.”
He admitted that while they wasted a flurry of chances in the first half, they barely created any in the second half.
“I don’t think we created chances second half. We ran out of legs because we were not match fit.
“We were a better team in the first half and in the second half. We had good scoring chances that we needed to take. I’m disappointed we didn’t take one of those,” he added.
He vowed they would take the game to Royal AM and get the early goal in Durban.
