Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed that midfielder Nkosingiphile Ngcobo has been given time off with, extending their support after the death of the player’s father.
Ngcobo will not be considered for selection in the next few games, starting with rejuvenated SuperSport United in a DStv Premiership encounter at FNB Stadium on Saturday evening.
The midfield maestro has been given leave after his father died last Friday. However, the cause of death remains unknown.
Ngcobo was a notable absentee when Amakhosi fought back to earn a 1-all draw away to Marumo Gallants at Royal Bafokeng Stadium on Sunday.
It was Chiefs’ second consecutive league draw in what has been a poor start by new coach Arthur Zwane.
CONDOLENCES TO THE NGCOBO FAMILY
In a brief statement on Monday evening, Chiefs said: “It saddens us to announce the passing of Khanyisani Nimrod Ngcobo; Nkosingiphile ‘Mshini’ Ngcobo’s beloved father.
“He passed away on Friday, 9 September. Our thoughts are with Mshini and his family and friends during this difficult time.
“May his soul rest in peace. Mshini has been granted compassionate leave to join his family to mourn this great loss,” added the club.
The 22-year-old Ngcobo has featured in six of the seven league games for Chiefs this campaign, only missing the Gallants due to the recent passing of his father.
The Glamour Boys are in the relegation zone in 14th place with only two wins, two defeats and three defeats in the early stages of the league.
But Ngcobo believes Chiefs they are doing well. I think we’ve done pretty well so far, although we are always striving to improve, ” he said, as quoted by the club’s website.
“There is great unity within the squad and with the technical staff. Everybody is pulling together and determined to achieve success and bring happiness to all of our loyal supporters,” Ngcobo added.
