Pasuwa believes Bullets can bounce back to gun down Simba

Nyasa Big Bullets coach Kalisto Pasuwa is optimistic that Nyasa Big Bullets can bounce back from Saturday’s 0-2 loss to Simba in the CAF Champions League campaign.

The Zimbabwean Pasuwa wore a brave face after Bullets emerged from Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe with the defeat in the preliminary round first-leg match.

Pasuwa insisted that small matters decided the game and his wards were capable of overturning the tables in the reverse match.

“It is first-half of the game. We are going for the second-half in Tanzania. Football being football, I think this time we should try to push up…this is football and we have to throw everything, push up for more and hope for the best in the return leg,” he said.

Few teams come out unscathed from the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium, which is Simba’s home, but the former Dynamos trainer remains confident.

““These guys should get used to facing a very hostile reception in football and that is exactly what they will face in Tanzania next week,” he said,” Pasuwa added.

Simba interim coach Juma Mgunda has also advised his team to remain humble despite the first-leg advantage.

“We have won away from home, it is a good thing, but we have not qualified yet. We have another 90 minutes at home that we need to do well to guarantee ourselves a good position,” Mgunda told Simba website.

Last season, Orlando Pirates came back from the Dar es Salaam venue with a 1-0 loss last season in the Champions League.

Simba are so much an awe-inspiring force at home they beat Kaizer Chiefs 3-0 and Al Ahly 1-0 last season.

Other teams that came back with defeats from the stadium are Al Merrikh and AS Vita of Sudan and the Democratic Republic of the Congo respectively.

Moses Banda and John Bocco scored in either half to hand Simba an advantage in the first-leg match in Lilongwe.

The result leaves Bullets with a mountain to climb going into the second leg on September 28 2022.
