Chippa ends NMB curse as Arrows humiliate Swallows

Chippa United finally won a DStv Premiership match at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium for the first time in two years. They defeated winless Marumo Gallants 1-0 on Saturday.

The last time the Chilli Boys won a match at the iconic 2010 FIFA World Cup stadium it was back in 2021 against Richards Bay in the PSL Promotional/Relegation playoffs.

Ronaldo Maarman scored the only goal of the match in the 50th minute, thanks to an assist by Siphelele Luthuli.

The narrow win lifted the Chilli Boys to the top half of the table. They are eighth with 11 points from nine games.

Both teams had many opportunities during the entire match to find the back of the net, however they lacked clinical finishing.

In another encounter, Golden Arrows defeated Swallows FC for the first time in eight years. The last time Abafana, Bes’thende won a league match against Swallows was in 2013.

The victory took Arrows to fifth on the DStv Premiership with 11 points from eight matches.

In another DStv Premiership encounter, Sekhukhune United’s winless run stretched to six matches. They were held at home to a one all draw by Stellenbosch FC.
