What Rulani told new recruit Mashego upon joining Sundowns

Mamelodi Sundowns new signing Terrence Mashego has reveal his reason for joining the DStv Premiership champions.

Terrence Mashego made a switch from Cape Town City to Tshwane mainly to win trophies.

The Bafana Bafana international also briefly highlighted a conversation he had with Sundonws’ co-coach Rulani Mokwena.

For him joining Sundowns a team from his hometown is a dream come true. He is happy about the move.

Mashego was handed his debut on Sunday against AmaZulu as they won one nil in the stoppage time thanks to Marcelo Allende strike. He was introduced as a substitute in the 75th minute coming in for Sifiso Ngobeni.

“I just want to win trophies, that’s what coach Rulani told me that here at Sundowns we are just winning trophies,” Mashego told the club media.

“It’s a special feeling I don’t want to lie. I believe it’s every child’s dream to represent his mother team.”

Terrence Mashego further revealed that he was ready to play for his new club the day he arrived.

“As a player you need to be prepared at all times, for me I’ve been prepared ever since I came to Sundowns, from day one I was prepared.

“When they told me I was in the 23 [man squad] I was prepared. When the coach called me I was prepared to deliver,” Mashego added.

In rating his debut match for Masandawana, Mashego says it was a tough encounter. AmaZulu we tactically organised at the back. Sundowns struggled to get past the strong defense during the entire match. However they emerged victorious.

“It was a difficult game because the offenders we playing with five. It was difficult to break the line of five, we had to try our best and break that line,” said Mashego
