It’s going to be a good test, Daka reacts to Mali encounter

Leicester City and Zambia striker Paston Daka says the encounter against Mali on Friday will be a good test for them.

Daka views the tie as a test to find out how far the team has progressed and how ready they are for the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

In the qualifiers, Zambia were drawn in group H with Comoros, Lesotho and Cote d’Ivoire. After two matches, Zambia are third with three points. They won one and drew one.

“Mali is a very good side. They got a good squad with good players. I think it’s going to be a good test for us and our confidence. For us, it’s a good test. It’s going to show us where we have reached and how ready we are,” Daka told the media.

“It’s good for both of us because we looking forward to Afcon qualifiers. I think we are in good shape, and everyone is looking ready to play on Friday.”

Daka further warned his teammates to concentrate on the game rather than their opponents come Friday. This will help to get the result they want.

“It’s not about concentration on who they have on Mali. I think everyone wants to play against the best.

“It’s always an honour and pleasure to be called on the national team. Players dream of always representing their country. I’m humbled to have this opportunity, and I’m happy to meet with the guys,” Daka added.

Daka will be aiming to regain his form in front of goal. The striker hasn’t had a good start to the 2022/23 Premier League season. He has scored one goal in six matches, and his team sit at rock bottom on the log standings.

The 2012 African champions take on Mali on Friday night. Kickoff at Stade du 26 Mars is at 9pm.
