Marumo Gallants say they are proud to ‘produce’ Orlando Pirates’ new signing, Ndabayithethwa Phillip Ndlondlo, but some fans think otherwise.
Gallants have released a statement wishing the playmaker the best as he begins his new chapter at Orlando Pirates.
However, some fans have questioned the timing of Ndlondlo’s move to Pirates, saying it would make life difficult for returning coach Dan Malesela.
The supporters were reacting to the farewell message which the Polokwane-based side released for the midfielder on Thursday.
CLUB FAREWELL MESSAGE
“The midfielder’s notable achievements include scoring the only goal in the 2020/21 Nedbank Cup final, resulting in Gallants taking home the season’s title, as well as being voted man of the match numerous times for his outstanding performance,” the statement reads.
“Marumo Gallants are proud to produce star players who are in demand. We wish Ndlondlo well for the next phase of his career and look forward to seeing him rise to ever higher heights. See you on the field.”
FANS’ RESERVATIONS
Gallants’ fan simply calling himself Kaiz questioned Ndlondlo’s exit saying: “Dan dance is crying for this player”
Kabelo wa Lea could not agree more with Kaiz, saying: “These are some of things that will make dan dance job harder.”
Sera Makhura thought Gallants had shot themselves in the foot by selling the playmaker.
“A struggling team selling their weapons to their competitors…not in the middle of the season,” he said.
GOOD TIMING FOR NDLONDLO
In reaction, football analyst Shakes Rampedi said that Ndlondlo would join Pirates was just a matter of time.
“The time was right for Ndabayithethwa Ndlondlo to make the step up Orlando Pirates got a good player here, hope he gets his chance Huge loss for Marumo Gallants,” he said.
Gallants support Ntsika Ndlovu said he has no doubt Ndlondlo would galvanise the Buccaneers’ attack this season.
“Orlando Pirates found a perfect player. Ndlondlo is amazing. They will be a problem this season. Pirates has a solid squad n they are hard beat. With this inclusion together with Tim,” he said.
