Taylor eyeing second victory over Soweto giants
Cape Town City DStv Diski Challenge coach Ian Taylor is eyeing to make it two-out-of-two against Soweto giants when he takes on Orlando Pirates on Saturday afternoon.
Last week the Citizens proved too powerful for Kaizer Chiefs, winning the encounter 2-0. City’s second victory took coach Ian Taylor’s charges to the summit of the log standings, while Chiefs sit rock bottom with zero points in two matches.
Heading into a tricky top-of-the-table clash against Pirates, Taylor is confident his youthful squad can cause another upset against the Soweto giants.
“We are still very much building the team and developing the players. It is a good start. I think it’s because of the things we did in pre-season. We started well as a team, but we still have a lot of aspects to improve on,” said Taylor.
“But the confidence is good in the boys. As much as we do not know what to expect from Pirates, we can beat anyone now.”
On the other hand, Orlando Pirates coach Joseph Makhanya says they are the underdogs heading into the encounter as their opponents started the campaign in fine form.
“I think they [City] have the upper hand, but we have prepared well. The match will be settled in 90 minutes. I’m hopeful we will get goals.”
Kickoff at Lucas Moripe Stadium is at 12pm.
