Update on Zakhele Lepasa after injury scare

Orlando Pirates striker Zakhele Lepasa has given an update after his injury scare in the game between Bafana Bafana and Sierra Leone on Saturday.

Lepasa, who left the FNB pitch seemingly injured on Saturday afternoon, insisted that he was feeling better.

“Great performance today from the whole team!  Oh, I’m not injured, wasn’t anything bad after all. Thank God,” he said.

Lepasa captured the imagination of most fans after he created two goals during the friendly.

Bafana Bafana won the game 4-0 courtesy of a double from returning Themba Zwane.

News that Lepasa did not suffer a serious injury has since brought relief among most fans.

Another fan called Die Hard hailed Lepasa for the inspiring performance. “I would be angry if you were injured because, as Sundowns, we want all of you. We don’t want excuses. You played well, mfana omncane; you’re improving,” he said.

Die Hards counterpart chipped in, saying: “My heart nearly stopped boi, I’m glad you are not injured. We have got a big assignment on the 1st, and we need u fit.”

Mahlase MG chipped, saying he did not watch the game but was not worried by reports of Lepasa’s injury.

“Eishh I didn’t watch the game but am so relieved that you are okay. May the LORD protect you from injuries; we need you 100% fit for next weekend,” MG wrote.

Bafana Bafana won the game after Zwane fired the opener in the 33rd minute before Mihlali Mayambela added the second goal early in the second half.

The recalled Sundowns playmaker Zwane completed his brace with 15 minutes to full-time.

Bafana Bafana have now switched their focus to next Tuesday’s friendly against Botswana at the same FNB Stadium.
