Bafana coach hints on who will start Botswana tie
Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has revealed four players who will start against neighbours Botswana in the second international friendly encounter on Tuesday evening (18:00) at FNB Stadium.
Broos has hinted that he will rotate his squad and give some stars that didn’t feature in the 4-0 thrashing of Sierra Leone a run against the Zebras in the build-up to the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
BROOS ON GIVING EVERY PLAYER A CHANCE
“It will be a totally different team. We have 23 players, and there were 11 players that played on Saturday, so it is easy for you to know who will play on Tuesday,” Broos told the media.
“We will play Botswana with another team; that has always been the plan before the camp, and we won’t change that.
“So, we will see every player that is with us in this camp play. [Goodman] Mosele will play, [Teboho] Mokoena, [Ashley] Du Preez, Siyanda [Xulu],” added the Bafana coach.
Broos also revealed what he told the Bafana stars after the Leone Stars clash to keep them on their toes.
“I have the opportunity to make a good evaluation of the camp, and I put some pressure on the shoulders of the players on Saturday by saying that winning the game is not everything, so tomorrow it will be the same,” he said.
“And I hope the players won’t spoil it. So, it is up to them to put in a good performance, even though I think Botswana’s game will be more difficult. We have already analysed them.”
The confidence-boosting win at FNB Stadium at the weekend was Bafana’s first in four games, as they had lost three and drew one before this international break.
However, Broos did admit that they still have a long way to go before Bafana reaches their best as he readiness them for the must-win AFCON qualifiers against Liberia in March.
