Former Pirates coach Fadlu Davids set to join new club
Former Orlando Pirates co-coach Fadlu Davids says he will announce his next move on Tuesday, with Swallows FC being his likely next destination.
Other reports suggest that Davids might be on his way to Russia to work as an assistant to his former Pirates boss Josef Zinnbauer.
The German is in charge of FC Locomotiv Moscow.
Davids, who has been jobless for four months, hinted on his next move in his interaction with football fans on social media platforms such as tweeter.
“Thank you for all the comments on my last tweet. Tomorrow, on my new Instagram acc (@davidsfadlu) I’ll be announcing my next move. Stay tuned,” he said.
SWALLOWS LINKS
The up-and-coming coach’s name has been linked with Swallows who are looking for a coach after parting ways with Dylan Kerr last Wednesday.
In response, a supporter has since forewarned the former Marizburg United coach against joining trigger-happy Chippa United.
“Whatever you do coach, don’t go to Chippa,” a support simply calling himself Director Tax tweeted.
CHIPPA RISKY OPTION
The Port Elizabeth-based DStv Premiership side is notorious for firing coaches.
Chippa hardly finish a DStv Premiership campaign with one man in charge of the club.
The most recent Chippa’s casualty was former Pirates and SuperSport winger Daine Klate who lasted on the coaching job for a few weeks, before he was shown the exit door.
A few days ago, the former 41-year-old coach Davids hinted on a possible return to management soon.
“Stay tuned for the next chapter in my career,” he said last week.
Davids said then that he had been recharging the batteries after being released by Pirates in the pre-season.
“It’s been a period of recharging the batteries and planning for the future. Look forward to being more interactive in the future,” he said.
Davids worked alongside Mandla Ncikazi as Pirates finished empty-handed last season.
The Buccaneers came close to silverware but lost 1-0 to RB Berkane in the Confederation Cup final played in Nigeria.
The trophy-drought prompted Pirates’ management to reshuffle the team by releasing Davids and several players.
The Soweto giants demoted Ncikazi to work as an assistant to new head coach Spaniard Jose Riveiro.
